I know what it’s like to feel stuck, wondering if there’s more to life. As a young single mom, I faced struggles that often felt overwhelming, but I refused to let my circumstances define me. I worked tirelessly to give my kids opportunities, and at 33, I took a leap and enrolled in college, even when I doubted myself. I believed there had to be more, and I was right.
In 2017, I reached my breaking point. Life felt heavy, and I was tired of living in fear and uncertainty. With no clear plan but a bold vision, I bought a one-way ticket to Thailand and started my journey. I launched Chronicles Abroad, a podcast sharing my experiences as a Black woman living overseas. Leaving behind the familiar was terrifying, but it was the first step to reclaiming my power and rewriting my story.
That leap changed everything. Living abroad gave me freedom, clarity, and connection. I found my community, created spaces for Black travelers to feel seen, and eventually built Black In Travel® and Black In Tulum®. Now, as the CEO and founder of these global brands, I reside in Mexico, continuing my mission to empower others to break free, explore boldly, and design a life that aligns with their vision.
